The Nicosia Development Agency (ANEL) and eight other entities signed a Local Green Deal with the Municipality of Strovolos, on December 12, 2024. The agreement was signed by Dr. Lefteris Loizou, CEO of ANEL. The other participating entities are the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB), The Cyprus Institute, the University of Limassol – Bioeconomia Center, the Cyprus Energy Agency, the Center for Social Innovation Cyprus (CSR), and the companies NETinfo and Ideopsis.

The above entities will collaborate under the coordination of the Municipality of Strovolos to create a publicly accessible platform for energy communities.

More specifically, the platform’s key actions include:

1. Providing information on energy communities and their benefits.
2. Raising awareness of the legal and regulatory frameworks governing energy communities in Cyprus.
3. Offering educational material to enhance the knowledge and skills of participants.
4. Showcasing and promoting best practices from other energy communities.
5. Providing tools for communication, forming interest groups, and hosting online events.

The platform will target both citizens and businesses, aiming to foster engagement and knowledge-sharing.
